AppleCare Protection Plans - Protect Your Investment. Without spending another penny, your new Apple computer is completely covered against any issue that may arise for one year. Speaking from personal experience where a laptop screen issue (a burnt-out light bulb, essentially) was next-day air shipped FREE to California from New York on Thursday night after 6pm local time, and received again in completely working and unharmed condition on the next Tuesday at 10:00am. On my porch. Ready to go. Free. Wow. But that only lasts a year. And repair on laptops, which take a LOT of wear and tear since they were designed to be portable and get a lot of travel time, is quite costly.
